Marvel’s Fantastic Four New Cast Rumours: Who’s Playing Reed Richards, Sue and Others?

After the debacle that was the last one and amidst lots of anticipation regarding MCU reinventing the franchise, Fantastic Four new cast rumours are here to pull us out of the slumber that we were subjected to as we tried to sit through Secret Invasion. Here’s your timely tonic on the same.

The Fantastic Four is one of the most beloved comic book superhero franchises in the world and the first superhero family in Marvel comics. Unfortunately, their track record in the movies hasn’t been that way. The first two movies (2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis as Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic, Sue Storm, the Human Torch and The Thing respectively, received mixed reviews (which means that some people liked them including me).

2015’s Fantastic Four reboot was the worst thing to happen to the superhero family, even worse than Galactus himself. It stars Miles Teller as Mr Fantastic, Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, and Jamie Bell as The Thing. This one even made its predecessors look far better and more appealing.

When Marvel’s Kevin Feige confirmed at Marvel Comic-Con in San Diego in 2022 that another Fantastic Four movie is in the pipeline, fans were filled with joy because they, and all of us, were hopeful that finally, the family could receive the justice they deserved for a long time. The latest reports suggest that we may finally have the members of the family finalised.

Fantastic Four New Cast

Coming to the Fantastic Four new cast rumours now. As per industry insider/reporter Jeff Sneider, Matt Smith (Doctor Who, The Crown, Morbius) was considered for the role of Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic), although it is unlikely anymore, it seems. Adam Driver (Star Wars, Marriage Story) seems to be the go-to guy now.

Vanessa Kirby (The Crown, Pieces of a Woman, Mission Impossible: Fallout and later) has been tapped to play Sue Storm, with Insider DnielRPK even reporting that she will be the lead in the movie.

There are considerable chances that Joseph Quinn of Stranger Things 4 fame will be her brother aka Johnny Storm (the Human Torch). As for Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, things are way murkier.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s (The Bear, The Punisher, Girls, Andor) name is being thrown around. But of late, rumours even suggest that he might play Silver Surfer.

We know that we will be having Galactus as the main villain, but the only piece of news surrounding the character is that the studio is looking for a Latino actor for the part. Doctor Doom will also appear in the movie but as a side dish (it’s sad that we have to wait longer to see him reach his true potential as one of the most dangerous villains in the Marvel universe).

Fantastic Four will be directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision). Its script has been penned by Jeff Kaplan, Ian Springer and Josh Friedman. It is part of the MCU Phase 6 that will end with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
